The Spectral Detective Agency

A Ghostly Inheritance

A cosy mystery with an improbable friendship, or maybe more, and a twist of the supernatural

The village of Craithlee on Avon in the glorious Warwickshire countryside is about to welcome the new custodian of Maitland Hall.

The previous few years had been rough on Kelso Maitland. Having weathered a divorce and redundancy, unexpectedly inheriting the run-down Maitland Hall from his great uncle Silas might just give him the purpose he needs.

The honourable Theresa Maitland, nee Craithlee, is a ghost, a spirit, a spectre. She has no idea why but has been in that condition since her demise in the year of our Lord 1808. She is invisible to almost everyone unless she fully manifests, but Theresa refuses to haunt people. It is not her nature to terrify living souls. But now she perceives that her home, her only home, is under threat. It’s time to be scary!

Thrown together, these two will be caught up in circumstances beyond their control, with events that first threaten helpless animals on the Maitland estate and then an innocent young woman accused of stealing a valuable early edition of Le Morte D’Arthur.

From such different worlds, will they learn to live together, and can they find a way to work together to save their new friend?

In this tale there is:

· No graphic violence (“I would rather talk than fight”, Kel Maitland.)

· No graphic sex (“Please, I am a lady of breeding!”, Theresa Maitland, nee Craithlee).

· Occasional bad language but mostly from the criminals, well what else would you expect from such villains!
